Objective: The objective of this unit is to gain an understanding of the Tax Practitioners Board’s (Board) requirements in relation to the required knowledge and the application of the Tax Agent Services Act 2009, including the Code of Professional Conduct.

Those who provide BAS services for a fee or other reward must be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). Registration ensures that BAS agents:

- have the qualifications and experience required to provide BAS services
- meet the fit and proper requirements
- have appropriate professional indemnity insurance cover to protect consumers.

Important Information:

Resource Requirements: Internet, computer, venue and a supervisor. Students will also need access to relevant legislation, industry and workplace material.

Pass Mark: Candidates must achieve an 85% pass mark overall.

Attempts: Two (2).

Duration: Suggested reading and research time – 240 minutes. You will have 150 minutes to complete the examination.

Assessment Conditions: The examination component of the unit must be completed under independent supervision in compliance with the Tax Practitioner Board requirements.
